Soothing Home Residential Apartment

Soothing Home Residential Apartment

Soothing Home Residential Apartment is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully combines modern simplicity with heart-warming endurance to create an elegant and comfortable humanistic living space. This sophisticated duplex apartment renovation, designed by Kevin Chu, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning and aesthetic refinement, particularly evident in its innovative staircase solution. The original bulky central staircase, which previously impeded natural daylight and created a burdensome atmosphere, was replaced with an open-concept design that serves as both a functional element and an artistic centerpiece, effectively connecting different floors while strengthening family bonds. The design philosophy draws inspiration from traditional Chinese ink paintings, reflected in the thoughtful black-and-white color scheme of fixture furniture, while incorporating contemporary design elements. The material palette encompasses premium selections including marble, quartz tiles, iron pieces, natural brushed veneers, specific Japanese paints, engineered wood flooring, and imported wallpapers, all carefully curated to create a poetic and harmonious living environment. The project's distinctive approach to spatial organization and aesthetic expression earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, recognizing its excellence in creating a living space that seamlessly blends functionality with artistic expression. Notable design features include swastika-style racks and custom bookcases that artfully express Chinese cultural philosophy while cleverly concealing necessary infrastructure, demonstrating an intelligent integration of practical requirements with cultural elements.
