Songpingshan Fire Station is an innovative architectural project completed in 2019, situated at the intersection of Baoshen Road and Keyuan Road in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, China. This Grade-1 fire station exemplifies sophisticated urban planning and functional design, encompassing a plot area of 3,660.10 square meters and a gross floor area of 5,791.64 square meters. The design ingeniously addresses multiple site challenges through an inner courtyard-style layout, particularly responding to noise interference from Beihuan Avenue and strict safety requirements due to its proximity to a gas vaporizing station. The architectural composition features a strategic vertical organization where the ground floor houses essential facilities including the fire garage, entrance hall, canteen, and communication room, while the upper floors accommodate firefighters' preparation rooms, operational spaces, and auxiliary facilities. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, incorporates advanced sustainable design elements including green architecture principles and sponge city technologies, particularly evident in its roof fruit garden and rainwater management systems. The building's exterior presents a minimalist aesthetic with carefully considered window-to-wall ratios and shading structures, while its innovative circulation design enables efficient emergency response capabilities through strategically positioned exits. Notable design solutions include the creation of multiple rest platforms for firefighters' well-being and the implementation of separate circulation routes that allow public visitation without compromising operational efficiency. The facility can accommodate seven fire trucks and serves as a model for modern fire station design, effectively balancing functional requirements with architectural innovation.
