Somerset Hangzhou Serviced Residence

Somerset Hangzhou Serviced Residence

Somerset Hangzhou Serviced Residence is an award-winning architectural masterpiece situated along the picturesque Qiantang River, embodying a harmonious fusion of contemporary design principles and traditional Chinese aesthetics. Designed by Tao Huang and Zhihong Li, this 28,060-square-meter serviced residence complex represents a sophisticated interpretation of Oriental white space philosophy, where simplicity and natural elements converge to create an atmosphere of refined elegance. The interior design scheme masterfully incorporates natural materials such as stone and warm wood grains, complemented by fiber wall fabrics that maintain a soft, cohesive tone throughout the space. The project, completed in 2018, distinguishes itself through its thoughtful integration of sustainable design practices and innovative spatial planning, featuring tailor-made storage solutions that cater to long-term residents while maintaining aesthetic harmony. The design philosophy emphasizes the creation of transitional spaces that serve as buffers between the external urban environment and private sanctuary, equipped with modern amenities that support diverse lifestyle needs from business to leisure. This exceptional project, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, sets new standards for long-term rental apartments through its forward-thinking approach to residential design, successfully balancing functionality with artistic expression while maintaining a strong connection to its cultural context and natural surroundings.
