Solo Residential Apartment

Solo Residential Apartment

Solo Residential Apartment is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated space optimization and aesthetic harmony within a 298-square-meter dwelling. Located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, this innovative design solution masterfully addresses the challenges of a long, narrow floor plan by symmetrically dividing the space into 13 distinct functional areas, centered around a striking central public space. The interior architecture seamlessly integrates contemporary and Bali-inspired design elements, creating a unique fusion of styles that promotes cleanliness, transparency, and magnificence. A distinguishing feature of the design is its sophisticated foyer, enclosed by clear grey glass, which serves as an elegant transitional space between the contemporary public areas and the exotic Bali-style master bedroom while maintaining visual transparency throughout. The public space is anchored by a white piano, which not only serves as a focal point but also naturally delineates the living and dining areas. The design employs a thoughtful material palette, including natural wooden veneers and artistic iron grilles in the master bedroom, complemented by exposed concrete ceilings that reveal primitive charisma. The project, designed by Hsuan-Ta Chiu and completed in 2018, garnered recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional approach to spatial design and aesthetic innovation. The interior's sophisticated features include a strategically positioned bar counter, stereoscopic wood walls, and an exclusive painted TV wall that enhances spatial rhythm and visual interest while maintaining a harmonious flow throughout the residence.
