Solar Egg Public Sauna

Solar Egg Public Sauna

Solar Egg Public sauna is a remarkable architectural installation that represents a harmonious blend of functional design and symbolic artistry, manifesting as a striking egg-shaped public sauna structure that stands five meters tall. This innovative social sculpture, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, features an exterior covered in stainless steel mirrors with titanium gold-colored coating, creating a dramatic visual impact that reflects and interacts with its surrounding environment. The interior, thoughtfully constructed from pine and aspen wood, houses a heart-shaped sauna stove made from local iron and stones, maintaining temperatures between 75° and 85° Celsius. This unique architectural piece, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, serves as both a functional public sauna and a powerful symbol of community transformation and renewal. The design draws profound inspiration from the Arctic climate's distinctive light conditions, varying from perpetual winter darkness to continuous midsummer sunlight. The egg shape deliberately symbolizes rebirth and new opportunities, particularly significant in the context of urban transformation and community development. The structure's mobile nature allows it to travel to different locations, serving as a social gathering space where people can engage in meaningful discussions about community challenges and changes. The sauna's innovative design seamlessly integrates traditional sauna culture with contemporary architectural expression, featuring sophisticated engineering that allows for both aesthetic beauty and practical functionality, while its golden mirrored surface creates a stunning interplay with natural light and landscape.
