Soho Apartment Residence

Soho Apartment Residence

Soho Apartment Residence is an innovative interior renovation project located near Songshan Airport in Taiwan, exemplifying a harmonious blend of functional design and aesthetic sophistication within a 73-square-meter living space. Completed in January 2019 by designer Chengwen Tang, this residential transformation project addresses the unique challenges of its location through thoughtful architectural solutions and creative space optimization. The design's most distinctive feature is its sophisticated ceiling treatment, which draws inspiration from aviation aesthetics, incorporating arc line work that elegantly resolves height differences between structural elements while paying homage to Bauhaus principles of form following function. The interior scheme employs a carefully curated selection of materials, including cement-like paint, timber veneer board, genuine timber board, frosted glass, tiles, and metalwork pieces, creating a cohesive and refined atmosphere. The renovation successfully tackles multiple challenges, including noise mitigation from the neighboring airport and the optimization of a previously cramped layout, resulting in an airy, light-filled environment that enhances family interaction and daily living. This exceptional residential design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, acknowledging its innovative approach to urban living challenges and its successful integration of aesthetic and functional elements within a constrained space.
