Originally established in 1810 by sea captain Carl Peter Blom, the property has undergone a thoughtful transformation that honors its Mediterranean-inspired heritage while introducing modern amenities and sustainable design principles. The architectural intervention, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2022, features a sophisticated synthesis of traditional Swedish countryside aesthetics with contemporary spatial solutions. The design, conceived by architects Marco Flamini, Ulf Maxe, and James Anstey, comprises a new structure housing hotel rooms and spa facilities, characterized by red wood-clad exteriors that pay homage to traditional archipelago architecture. The building's innovative volumetric composition creates an illusion of multiple smaller structures, achieved through lateral displacement of building masses, resulting in a facade with enhanced depth and visual interest.
