Skynet Display space is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes spatial aesthetics through its unique ceiling installation inspired by traditional fishing nets, reflecting Shanghai's maritime heritage. The design, created by Kris Lin and Jiayu Yang, masterfully integrates traditional Chinese joinery techniques with contemporary architectural elements, featuring a sophisticated warp knitted knotless net structure that demonstrates remarkable engineering precision and cultural sensitivity. The 450-square-meter space employs a distinctive ceiling configuration crafted using the Raschel Warp Knitting Machine technique, incorporating 4 to 8 guide bars to weave warp yarns into a seamless network that is characterized by its durability, lightweight properties, and structural stability. The design's primary aesthetic achievement lies in its pristine white color scheme, which not only amplifies the spatial perception but also creates a harmonious dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and modern minimalism. The project, which earned the Platinum A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in spatial innovation through its sophisticated implementation of joggling techniques traditionally used in Chinese furniture making, adapting these methods for contemporary architectural applications.
