SKYLINE Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies modern living solutions for urban dwellers, particularly tailored for a single female occupant in Taiwan. This thoughtfully renovated space, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design category in 2018, demonstrates a masterful integration of natural light, spatial flow, and contemporary aesthetics. The design philosophy draws inspiration from Master Kisho Kurokawa's Grey Space concept, effectively blurring boundaries between interior and exterior spaces while maximizing the living area's potential. The renovation addressed common challenges found in 30-year-old Taipei residences, such as poor ventilation, fragmented compartments, and inadequate lighting, through a comprehensive redesign that transformed the original narrow three-room layout into an expansive, open-plan living space. Notable features include a widened balcony with lowered parapet to showcase urban views, an innovative kitchen island that seamlessly connects to the dining area, and a sophisticated material palette comprising faux concrete, plywood, semi-precious stones, and real-wood flooring. The master bedroom area incorporates an elevated Japanese-room section, a walk-in closet, and an en-suite bathroom, while maintaining clear distinction between public and private zones through elegant architectural elements. The design's success lies in its ability to create an ambiance that balances functionality with aesthetic refinement, achieved through careful consideration of sight lines, material integration, and spatial harmony.
