Sinus Sun Lounger

Sinus Sun Lounger

Sinus Sun Lounger is an innovative outdoor furniture design that revolutionizes the traditional concept of adjustable loungers through its unique approach to personalized comfort and ergonomic adaptability. Created by designer Christoph Guenther, this sophisticated piece of furniture distinguishes itself through its ability to provide an unlimited number of individualized lying positions, departing from conventional pre-set adjustment mechanisms. The design features a sophisticated construction comprising diverse local wood materials and lightweight aluminum hinges, with a distinctive wavy carrying frame composed of symmetrically connected rods. The lying surface, measuring 2088 x 660 x 360 mm, is ingeniously divided into four interconnected sections joined by spring-loaded joints that can be fixed to stabilize the frame. A notable innovation in its operation is the repositioning of adjustment mechanisms to the ends of the lounger rather than underneath, employing tension rather than compression principles for position modification. The design incorporates a smooth-shaped wooden ring for head support, inspired by neck pillows and massage tables, enhancing user comfort. The framework's stability on various surfaces is ensured through a wrapped rope system and four rails that prevent rotation and twisting, while also featuring a convenient storage area for personal items. This thoughtful design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a significant advancement in outdoor furniture design, emphasizing individual adaptability and user-centered functionality while maintaining operational simplicity.
