Shr.d Music Player
Shr.d Music Player is an innovative audio device that reimagines the traditional vinyl record player through a contemporary design lens, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Audio and Sound Equipment Design category. This sophisticated music player seamlessly integrates classical audio functionality with modern aesthetics, featuring a distinctive design that incorporates fundamental geometric elements - a square, hole, red accent, and dot, from which its name is derived. Crafted from high-quality ABS material, the device offers superior durability, impact resistance, and dimensional stability while maintaining environmental consciousness through its non-toxic composition. The player's dimensions of 32.5cm x 7.9cm x 28cm enable it to function as both a wall-mounted installation piece and a practical audio device, representing a harmonious fusion of form and function. Distinguished by its dual functionality, the Shr.d Music Player accommodates traditional vinyl playback while incorporating modern USB connectivity, allowing users to access digital music libraries. This versatility makes it particularly appealing to a new generation of music enthusiasts who appreciate both vintage audio qualities and contemporary convenience. Designed by Shiwen Huang under the leadership of Guorong Wu, the player addresses the challenge of integrating classical audio equipment into modern living spaces while maintaining high manufacturing standards despite its complex internal structure. The project, developed between September 2020 and February 2021 in Milan, demonstrates exceptional attention to user experience, incorporating features such as thermal management through its ABS construction and straightforward installation process, making it an exemplary piece of industrial design that bridges traditional audio appreciation with contemporary lifestyle needs.
