Shine Stars Exhibition Center

Shine Stars Exhibition Center is an innovative landscape architectural project situated along the historic canal banks of Yangzhou, China, exemplifying a harmonious blend of traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design aesthetics. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning installation, completed in October 2020, encompasses 4,453 square meters of thoughtfully crafted space that draws inspiration from Yangzhou's legendary moonlight, immortalized in Ming dynasty poetry. The design's central concept revolves around capturing and preserving the ethereal beauty of moonlight through sophisticated architectural elements, featuring fan-shaped and circular interspersed model frames constructed from stainless steel, complemented by steel mesh that creates compelling light and shadow effects. The installation employs advanced structural techniques where gallery frameworks serve as primary support points, while the strategic use of gradient punching plates and mirror stainless steel creates a sophisticated interplay between natural and artificial elements. The space incorporates traditional Chinese gardening principles reimagined through a modern lens, featuring vertical grilles reminiscent of fan bones and gradient screens that symbolically unfold like traditional folding fans, telling the story of Yangzhou's two-thousand-year cultural heritage. The design's innovative water features include several springs that add dynamic vitality to static water surfaces, while carefully positioned circular hollows in the water surface create the illusion of moon reflections, establishing a mesmerizing 24-hour visual experience that transforms with the natural light cycles. This landscape installation successfully achieves its objective of creating a contemporary cultural space that honors traditional Chinese garden design while incorporating modern materials and techniques, earning recognition at the A' Design Award competition for its exceptional integration of cultural heritage with innovative design solutions.
