Shimmer Residential

Shimmer Residential

Shimmer Residential is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies modern residential architecture through its sophisticated integration of geometric principles and sustainable design practices. Inspired by the Cartesian coordinate system, this 115-square-meter residential space demonstrates a masterful balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal, featuring an open-plan layout enhanced by strategic use of glass partitions and environmentally conscious materials. The design, created by Jau-Siang Li, Pei-Ling Liu, and Steven Sun, showcases a harmonious interplay of white leather-textured laminate, glass tiles, and sustainable stone flooring, while incorporating large floor-to-ceiling glazing that maximizes natural light penetration and reduces energy consumption. The project's distinctive features include a thoughtfully designed study space separated by transparent glass partitions, creating a seamless visual connection while maintaining functional separation. The design philosophy emphasizes the importance of occupant comfort and environmental responsibility, evident in the careful selection of materials and the implementation of energy-efficient solutions. The space is characterized by its warm and tranquil atmosphere, achieved through the combination of white themes and wooden masonry flooring, while curved edges soften the geometric precision of straight lines. Completed in January 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan, this residential project has been recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial design, material innovation, and sustainable practices. The design successfully addresses modern living requirements through its comprehensive storage solutions, versatile public areas, and sophisticated lighting design that creates textured atmospheres throughout the space.
