Shenzhen Hui Hotel Boutique Hotel is an innovative architectural transformation project that exemplifies the seamless integration of traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design sensibilities. Located in Shenzhen, China, this boutique hotel, completed in 2014, represents a masterful renovation of an existing factory structure, encompassing 8,800 square meters of thoughtfully designed space. The hotel's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the Chinese character Hui, which symbolizes the cyclical nature of return and homecoming in Chinese culture. The design philosophy manifests through various architectural and interior elements, including a striking 20-meter-long reception desk, 85 spacious guest rooms each exceeding 45 square meters, and sophisticated amenities including a 400-square-meter ballroom, restaurants, and recreational facilities. The interior design showcases an artful blend of new Oriental elements, incorporating traditional motifs such as bird cages, water vats, and abacus designs, while maintaining a modern aesthetic sensibility. Notable architectural features include the innovative use of wooden structures in the Chinese restaurant Yuese, a sunken indoor courtyard landscape, and floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize natural light penetration. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional space utilization through features such as the 360-rotating all-in-one wardrobe in guest rooms and the transformation of the rooftop into an outdoor bar. The design successfully creates a tranquil urban oasis that pays homage to Lingnan architectural traditions while meeting contemporary luxury hospitality standards.
