Shenzhen Berkeley Hotel Lobby Public Space is an innovative interior design project completed in December 2020, representing a sophisticated reimagining of the traditional business hotel lobby concept in downtown Shenzhen. This 2,200-square-meter space masterfully integrates the dual concepts of urban vacation and business functionality through its distinctive architectural elements and thoughtful spatial arrangement. The design's most notable feature is its series of independent yet continuous arch caves that function both as resting areas and urban viewing portals, creating a harmonious dialogue between interior comfort and city views. The sophisticated design approach employs minimalist materials to evoke a primal aesthetic sensibility, with arch doorways strategically positioned to modulate natural light and create seamless transitions between wall and ground textures. The space demonstrates exceptional attention to human interaction and sight lines, incorporating varying light fixture heights that respond to different user positions and activities, effectively transforming the typically formal hotel lobby atmosphere into a more relaxed, café-like environment. This innovative approach to hospitality design, created by designers Liangchao Li and Yuanman Huang, earned recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial innovation and user experience.
