Located in the bustling Sanlitun area of Beijing, this commercial space transformation, completed in March 2017, represents a sophisticated fusion of Chinese heritage with modern design sensibilities. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning across multiple floors, incorporating natural materials and innovative lighting solutions. The design features distinctive elements such as three strategic skylights that introduce natural landscapes into the interior, creating a dynamic interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces. The restaurant's interior architecture includes hand-crafted iron wire light fixtures shaped as traditional Chinese lanterns, white exterior walls reminiscent of ancient scrolls, and thoughtfully designed private dining areas that balance openness with intimacy. The renovation project, which consolidated three existing establishments into one cohesive space, successfully integrates hotel-standard service systems within a social dining context. The design philosophy emphasizes the importance of creating peaceful retreats within urban environments, utilizing elements such as Great Wall-inspired brick textures, wood pulp stairs, and nature-derived materials throughout the second floor. The space achieves a remarkable balance between maintaining cultural significance and meeting contemporary dining requirements, featuring a ground floor antique dining area complemented by a high-end full-service bar, demonstrating how commercial interior design can effectively preserve traditional values while accommodating modern lifestyle preferences.
