ShangKan I-Phone Charging Dock And Speaker, Candle Holder, Clock

ShangKan I-Phone Charging Dock and Speaker, Candle Holder, Clock is an innovative multifunctional design object that exemplifies the concept of deceptive functionality in contemporary furniture design. This sophisticated piece, created by designer Kevin Chu, represents a revolutionary approach to timepiece design by concealing its primary function as a clock while incorporating multiple practical features. The design consists of a cylindrical central structure that functions as a charging dock and speaker system for mobile devices, complemented by three polished stainless steel swing arms of varying lengths that serve as both candle holders and time indicators. The device employs an ingenious time-telling mechanism where the arms, which are in constant motion, reflect their positions onto a ceiling-mounted mirror to display the hours, minutes, and seconds. The construction utilizes high-quality materials including polished stainless steel for the mechanical candle holder swing arms and recycled rattan/bamboo fiber for the speaker mesh, demonstrating a commitment to both aesthetic excellence and environmental consciousness. Standing at 1100mm in height with a radius of 600mm including the candle holder arms, this Bronze A' Design Award-winning piece integrates advanced audio technology through a 25-watt tweeter and subwoofer system that projects sound in a 360-degree pattern. The design's philosophical foundation challenges traditional notions of form following function, instead embracing a concept where form deliberately deceives function, creating an engaging interactive experience that rewards user discovery and exploration.
