Shanghai New Hongqiao Hyatt Place Hotel Hotel is an exemplary architectural and interior design project completed in 2018, situated in the emerging downtown area of Shanghai, representing a sophisticated fusion of traditional Jiang Zhe Culture with contemporary design elements. The 29,037-square-meter development showcases a masterful interpretation of Shanghai's upper-class society's refined traditions, seamlessly blending modernist and retroist design approaches. The interior spaces feature a thoughtfully curated material palette incorporating dark copper, wood, light-colored cotton, and white cortex fabric, creating an atmosphere of understated elegance. The ground floor lobby embodies the minimalist philosophy of less is more, utilizing soft lighting and a harmonious combination of dark wood, gray cotton, and grain marble to achieve a sense of tranquility. Notable design elements include three-dimensional carved marble walls with vertical striping that creates a water curtain effect, sophisticated chandeliers, and carefully selected art paintings and white ceramic artworks that pay homage to old Shanghai's dignity. The project, designed by Honglei Liu with team members Yuxin Yang and Xiaomei Liang, received recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design and cultural integration. The design successfully creates distinct yet harmonious zones within the property, including the Bar, Lounge Area, and Dining Area, each maintaining its unique character while contributing to a cohesive guest experience. The project's sophisticated gray-and-white color scheme, combined with orange-red carpeting and natural elements like the symbolic thriving tree installation, creates a multisensory environment that encourages guests to transcend their daily routines and immerse themselves in a space that celebrates Shanghai's prosperity and cultural heritage.
