Shanghai Multifunction wardrobe is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the convergence of functionality, aesthetics, and spatial efficiency in contemporary interior design. Created by architect-designer Julia Subbotina, this sophisticated wardrobe system represents a revolutionary approach to storage solutions, featuring a distinctive frontage pattern that transforms it from a mere storage unit into a decorative wall element. The design, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, incorporates an All inclusive system that seamlessly integrates multiple storage volumes, built-in bedside tables with push-to-open mechanisms, and concealed night lamps within its structure. The wardrobe's main facade is an intricate composition comprising 1500 pieces of kempas and 4500 pieces of bleached oak, meticulously hand-crafted and finished with multiple varnish coatings. Standing at 2995 mm in height and 3270 mm in width, the wardrobe features a primary depth of 250 mm with a projected mirror section extending to 350 mm, creating an illusion of expanded space. The design incorporates advanced functionalities such as PIR-based motion sensors for lighting control, tip-on mechanical opening systems eliminating the need for handles, and blumotion technology for gentle, silent operation. Inspired by the dynamic spirit of Shanghai, the wardrobe embodies principles of freedom, purity, and forward-thinking design, while its eco-friendly construction using MDF and bleached oak demonstrates a commitment to environmental sustainability. The wardrobe's innovative design particularly excels in small spaces, where its multifunctional capabilities and space-saving features maximize utility while maintaining aesthetic excellence.
