Shanghai Land Asset Management Investment Office
Shanghai Land Asset Management Investment Office is a pioneering interior design project that exemplifies sustainable and innovative approaches to corporate space design, completed in Shanghai during 2016. This transformative office space, designed by Pan Mok, represents a significant departure from conventional investment office aesthetics by emphasizing material reuse and spatial optimization. The project's core philosophy revolves around the concept of extension, demonstrated through the innovative repurposing of existing materials, including metal panels, wooden flooring, brick walls, carpet, and ceiling tiles. The design features a sophisticated open-plan layout that prioritizes staff wellbeing, incorporating natural lighting and premium river views into communal areas. A particularly notable element is the reception area's distinctive metal panel installation, where repurposed panels were artfully perforated to create an illusion pattern enhanced by natural backlighting. The project successfully balances functionality with sustainability, featuring adaptable spaces that include an open discussion area with projection capabilities and convertible meeting spaces. The design earned recognition through the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to sustainable office design. Despite operating within strict budget and time constraints, the project showcases exceptional attention to detail, particularly in its treatment of materials, such as the 150mm by 900mm wooden flooring elements and the precise 600 x 600mm ceiling and carpet tile implementation. The space challenges traditional notions of corporate interior design in the Chinese market by demonstrating how repurposed materials can create sophisticated, professional environments while maintaining high environmental standards, as evidenced by the installation of high-end, low-pollution air conditioning systems.
