Shadow House Residential Interior Design

Shadow House Residential Interior Design

Shadow House Residential Interior Design is an innovative residential interior project that exemplifies sophisticated interplay between natural light and architectural elements, created by designer Sanjay Newaskar. This 4,800-square-foot penthouse design, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space Design category, demonstrates masterful manipulation of sunlight through carefully engineered lattice work, trapezoid panels, and strategic curtain placement, creating an ever-changing array of shadows throughout the day. The design philosophy draws inspiration from Origami art, incorporating angular furniture arrangements and folded plane aesthetics that contribute to the space's distinctive character. Environmental consciousness is evident in the material selection, featuring water-based paints compliant with IGBC norms, VOC-free Rubio Monocoat wood treatments, and a natural green wall in the dining area that enhances air quality and occupant wellbeing. The project's non-orthogonal geometry responds thoughtfully to sun paths and wind patterns, while interlocking double volumes create dynamic internal spaces. Notable design elements include custom-designed fixed furniture, specialized paneling, and bespoke lighting solutions, all executed within a nine-month timeframe. The project successfully overcomes the challenge of creating a unique identity within a development containing similar penthouses, achieving distinction through its innovative approach to natural light manipulation and spatial arrangement, while maintaining high standards of sustainability and functionality.
