Selfish Postcards Collages Postcards Series is a thought-provoking visual communication project that challenges contemporary notions of self-presentation and digital identity through a series of nine artistic collages. Created by Israeli designer Sharon Webber-Zvik, this innovative work explores the intersection of traditional anatomical illustrations, modern digital imagery, and personal vulnerability in the age of social media. The series, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design, deliberately contrasts with the prevalent culture of filtered perfection in digital self-representation. Each collage in the series measures 1150 by 1150 pixels for digital platforms and was later adapted into 10cm by 15cm physical postcards, combining vintage anatomical illustrations with contemporary imagery to create a multi-layered narrative about authentic self-expression. The work's distinctive approach incorporates symbolic elements such as flowers representing inner thoughts, horns symbolizing societal differentiation, and anatomical illustrations expressing emotional vulnerability. Initially conceived as a digital project, the series evolved in response to audience engagement, leading to a physical manifestation in the form of carefully curated postcard sets, each wrapped in specially designed packaging that complemented the artistic narrative. The project's sequential release strategy, which unfolded over a month, created an interactive dialogue with viewers, challenging conventional expectations of beauty while exploring themes of self-exposure, authenticity, and the psychological impact of digital self-representation in modern society.
