Self Portrait Office is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious transformation of a 30-year-old mixed-use commercial space into a contemporary workplace. The design, created by Yung En Lin, employs a sophisticated One Room / One Space / One Object concept, where spatial elements are seamlessly connected through continuous curved surfaces and monochromatic color schemes. This minimalist approach, primarily utilizing gray and white tones, creates an environment where the occupants become the focal point rather than elaborate decorations. The space features distinctive architectural elements, including a pushed-up ceiling design that creates an infinite sky cave effect, while curved cabinets and continuous horizontal lines establish a fluid spatial progression throughout. The central kitchen, conceived as a Solid Cube, serves as both a functional element and a spatial divider, with wooden plywood providing the sole color accent. The design successfully addresses multiple challenges, including limited space constraints and future adaptability requirements, through innovative solutions such as mirror implementations and strategic room layouts. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its integration of storage solutions for books and leather tools, while maintaining aesthetic cohesion through curved vocabulary and sophisticated lighting design that allows for homogeneous refraction through curved surfaces.
