Secluded Home Residential House is an exemplary architectural renovation project that transforms a 30-year-old residential structure into a harmonious blend of contemporary office space and living quarters, spanning 340 square meters in Taiwan. This innovative design, created by D.R. Tai, Y.H Tsao and Jeff Chiu, masterfully integrates traditional elements with modern functionality, establishing a tranquil sanctuary within an urban environment. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, is distinguished by its thoughtful preservation of original architectural elements, including granolithic flooring, stained glass, sliding doors, and traditional window barriers. The design philosophy emphasizes minimalist white aesthetics that serve to create a calming atmosphere, effectively counterbalancing urban stress while maintaining practical functionality. The spatial arrangement features a strategically designed first floor with dedicated areas for family activities, including a bedroom for the owner's father, complete with traditional elements such as spaces for calligraphy and tea ceremonies, alongside modern amenities such as a well-equipped kitchen and baking area. The renovation preserves the original rooftop structure while introducing contemporary elements, demonstrating exceptional material selection that combines local resources such as natural wood and minerals with existing architectural features.
