Sea Chaise-Longue is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the philosophy of dematerialization in contemporary furniture design, created by Italian architect Fabrizio Alborno. This distinctive piece, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a bold departure from conventional furniture aesthetics by emphasizing structural elements as primary design features. The design showcases a deliberate exposure of its construction elements, featuring visible bolts and screws that connect tubular metal frames with wooden panels, creating a massive yet visually transparent form. The chaise-longue's composition incorporates varnished square or cylindrical metal tubing as its primary structure, complemented by wooden panels finished with 100% natural beeswax, and cotton cushioning for comfort. Its dimensions of 185cm in length, 75cm in width, and 45cm in height are carefully calculated to ensure optimal ergonomic comfort while maintaining its striking visual presence. The design's uniqueness lies in its completely dismantlable structure, where each component is identifiable and traceable to its original state, embodying principles of sustainability and circular design. Available in various finishes including brick red, dove gray, and anthracite frame colors, with options for natural oak, mahogany, or wenge wood panels, the design also features an outdoor collection variant utilizing marine plywood and acrylic fiber cushions.
