Schweben Seat is an innovative collection of geometrically-inspired swing chairs that exemplifies the principles of Bauhaus design philosophy through its emphasis on simplicity, functionality, and basic geometric forms. Created by designer Omar Idriss, these floating seats derive their name from the German word schweben, meaning float, and represent a contemporary interpretation of traditional seating furniture. The design features three distinct geometric variations - square, circle, and triangle - each maintaining consistent dimensions of 1100mm in width and height, with a 400mm depth. These suspended seats are crafted primarily from wood with an internal metal reinforcement structure, connected to the ceiling via a 10mm metal rope and an ingenious bearing ring mechanism that enables smooth rotational movement. The collection's aesthetic appeal is enhanced through its color palette, which adheres to Bauhaus principles, offering variations in primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and white, as well as an oak veneer option for a natural finish. The seats are distinguished by their adjustable height feature, allowing customization between 600-900mm from the floor, and their innovative structural solution that ensures both stability and dynamic movement. This design, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, successfully addresses contemporary interior design needs by transforming traditional seating into architectural features that combine functionality with artistic expression.
