Scarlet Jade Of The East Festive Gift Set

Scarlet Jade Of The East Festive Gift Set

Scarlet Jade of the East Festive Gift Set is an innovative packaging design that masterfully combines Chinese and Japanese cultural elements to create a sophisticated festive gift presentation for traditional Bakkwa (Chinese dried meat delicacy). The design, created by Malaysian designer Shawn Goh Chin Siang, exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Eastern gift-giving traditions through its thoughtful multi-layered packaging approach. The primary packaging features a vibrant red box, measuring 270mm x 200mm x 65mm, adorned with meticulously hand-drawn auspicious elements including Koi fish and Sakura flowers, symbolizing overcoming adversity and new beginnings respectively. The design's sophistication is enhanced through the strategic use of high-quality materials, including Tactile Bright White paper, 350g coated stock for the main gift box, and vacuum-sealed inner packaging that creates an artistic water-flowing effect when sealed. The bold red primary packaging is elegantly balanced by pastel-colored gift bags, introducing a contemporary aesthetic while maintaining traditional cultural values. This design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its three-layer packaging system, combining functional preservation through vacuum sealing with aesthetic presentation that respects both Chinese and Japanese cultural sensibilities. The project, completed in 2018, represents a significant achievement in cultural design synthesis, effectively addressing the challenge of creating premium packaging that conveys gratitude and prosperity while maintaining product freshness and visual appeal.
