Savoir Resort Hotel Interior Design

Savoir Resort Hotel Interior Design is an exemplary architectural and interior design project that masterfully reimagines traditional Chinese folk houses in the south lower reaches of the Yangtze River, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. This sophisticated hotel interior design, completed in March 2017 in Hangzhou, China, spans an impressive 40,000 square meters and demonstrates a harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese architectural elements with contemporary design principles. Created by designer Karen Chang, the project successfully transforms ancient folk houses into a modern luxury hotel while preserving their cultural essence, particularly drawing inspiration from the Chinese philosophical concept of hermitism. The design employs a minimalist approach, utilizing white walls and lime stones to create spaces reminiscent of traditional Chinese ink paintings, while innovative architectural modifications enhance natural lighting and visual connectivity. The project's distinctive features include its borderless design philosophy, seamless integration with the Xixi National Wetland landscape, and thoughtful balance between openness and privacy in its twenty separate villas. The interior spaces are characterized by their sophisticated simplicity, achieved through a subtractive design method that minimizes formal decorative elements while maximizing the dialogue between indoor and outdoor environments through expansive glass windows. This transformation overcame significant challenges in converting traditionally enclosed structures into contemporary spaces that maintain cultural authenticity while meeting modern luxury hospitality requirements.
