Sanbenchianching Residential Apartment

Sanbenchianching Residential Apartment is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the evolution of contemporary living spaces in response to changing work patterns and lifestyle preferences in Taiwan. This thoughtfully conceived apartment design, created by designer Chuang Hsiao Cheng in collaboration with Yen An Yen and Wang Tina, seamlessly integrates professional workspace functionality with wellness-oriented living elements. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design category, masterfully addresses the growing trend of remote work while incorporating traditional Chinese medicine principles and health preservation concepts. The interior architecture features carefully planned ventilation channels, heat-insulating materials, and energy-efficient solutions, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental engineering considerations. A distinctive feature of the space is its dedicated tea station, specifically designed for preparing traditional Chinese herbal medicines, complete with water purification systems and specialized equipment. The aesthetic approach combines natural elements through stone collage walls and wood materials, while black iron architectural elements serve both functional and decorative purposes. The project, completed in December 2016 in Taipei, represents a sophisticated response to the contemporary challenge of balancing professional productivity with personal wellness, incorporating slow movement principles and creating designated areas for physical activity inspired by progressive workplace design concepts. The space planning prioritizes smooth traffic flow for telecommuting residents while maintaining distinct zones for work, relaxation, and health maintenance activities, effectively creating a harmonious environment that supports both current lifestyle needs and future retirement considerations.
