Samsa Photography Artwork

Samsa Photography Artwork is a profound photographic exploration of endangered and extinct insects, created by German photographer Florian W. Mueller, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Photography and Photo Manipulation Design category. This remarkable series, part of the larger Neglect collection, employs sophisticated macro photography techniques utilizing the Leica SL2 system with a 105mm Macro lens and innovative Multishot technology to produce extraordinary 185-megapixel images that capture the intricate details and sometimes bizarre beauty of these fragile specimens. Drawing inspiration from Franz Kafka's metamorphosis narrative and contemporary environmental concerns, the artwork serves as a poignant commentary on insect extinction while simultaneously celebrating the aesthetic magnificence of these often-overlooked creatures. Created in collaboration with the German Entomological Institute, this meticulously crafted series required the development of specialized table-top studio techniques to handle extremely delicate preserved specimens, resulting in large-format prints available in limited editions of 80 x 60cm and 120 x 90cm sizes. The project, which took approximately six months to plan and execute, represents a significant achievement in macro photography, combining technical excellence with artistic vision to raise awareness about biodiversity loss and insect conservation through the medium of fine art photography.
