Sampan Vision Kitchen Island

Sampan Vision Kitchen Island

Sampan Vision Kitchen Island is an innovative luxury kitchen design that seamlessly integrates modern technology with classical traditions, inspired by the historical floating markets of Aberdeen, Hong Kong. This sophisticated kitchen installation, designed by Julia Kharchenko and Sergio Kharchenko, features a central floating island measuring 5071mm x 1273mm x 920mm, characterized by its distinctive roof design and chrome-plated mirror surfaces. The design, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019, exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to kitchen functionality and aesthetics. The island incorporates advanced electrical accessories and touch-sensitive controls, creating an interactive cooking environment that responds to user presence. Constructed with polished stainless steel for basic elements and polished aluminum for the worktop, the design includes integrated backlighting that changes color based on the kitchen's primary color scheme. The facades combine plastic and MDF plates to achieve complex yet elegant lines, while the overall layout promotes social interaction by seamlessly connecting with the living space. The design's technological integration extends to its fully electric control system, allowing for touchless operation and ambient illumination that creates an immersive experience reminiscent of luxury automotive design. The project, completed between June and July 2018, represents a limited edition luxury furniture piece that prioritizes both aesthetic excellence and practical functionality, offering extensive storage space and state-of-the-art culinary facilities while maintaining a striking visual presence.
