Safe Durian Net Bag

Safe Durian Net Bag

Safe Durian Net Bag is an innovative packaging solution designed to address the unique challenges of handling and transporting durian fruit, recognized for its achievement in sustainable design through an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category. This environmentally conscious design utilizes recycled paper balls woven into a net-like structure, creating a lightweight yet robust carrying solution that effectively protects users from the durian's notoriously sharp thorns while maintaining functionality. The design, measuring 500mm x 500mm x 18mm, demonstrates remarkable versatility in accommodating durians of various sizes through its adaptable weaving pattern. The implementation process is straightforward: the durian is placed in the center of the net, and when the handles are lifted, the packaging naturally conforms to the fruit's shape, creating a secure enclosure. This innovative approach to fruit packaging represents a significant advancement in sustainable design, combining practical safety considerations with environmental responsibility. The reusable nature of the packaging, coupled with its construction from recycled materials, exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to addressing both user safety and environmental concerns in the realm of specialized fruit packaging. The design's success lies in its ability to transform a common safety hazard associated with durian handling into a manageable experience, while simultaneously addressing the growing global demand for sustainable packaging solutions. The project, completed in March 2017, demonstrates how thoughtful design can effectively balance functional requirements with environmental considerations, earning recognition from the A' Design Award for its innovative approach to packaging design.
