Rush Mobile Shelter is an innovative mobile emergency housing solution designed to address the critical needs of refugees and displaced populations, representing a significant advancement in humanitarian shelter design. This versatile, modular wagon-based structure combines mobility with expandable living space, featuring a compact configuration that can be towed by a single adult and expand to accommodate up to four people through telescopic slide-out sections. The design incorporates a lightweight yet rigid aluminum frame with detachable insulated wall panels constructed from twin-walled polycarbonate sheets and extruded aluminum, all mounted on a steerable flatbed wagon chassis with all-terrain wheels. Its sophisticated engineering allows for quick deployment and assembly within one hour using basic tools, while its durability ensures a three-year operational lifespan under challenging conditions. The shelter's distinctive modular capability enables multiple units to be conjoined by detaching wall panels, creating larger communal spaces suitable for schools or emergency field hospitals. Developed in response to the Syrian refugee crisis and recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Social Design category, this humanitarian innovation addresses critical challenges of refugee housing by offering superior protection against harsh weather conditions compared to traditional tents, while maintaining mobility advantages over static solutions like shipping containers. The shelter's dimensions are optimized through computer simulation testing, measuring 1200mm x 2200mm x 1900mm in its compact form and expanding to 3500mm x 2200mm x 1900mm when fully extended, demonstrating an efficient balance between portability and practical living space.
