Rou by T Ham Concept store is an innovative retail and dining establishment in Taipei, Taiwan, that revolutionizes the traditional butchery concept by seamlessly integrating modern design aesthetics with functional requirements. This architecturally significant space, designed to redefine the meat retail experience, spans two floors totaling 350 square meters, with the ground floor dedicated to a contemporary butchery and the upper level serving as a versatile dining and event space. The design concept draws inspiration from refrigerator interiors, incorporating rounded forms, curved corners, and customized lighting fixtures that create a distinctive spatial identity. The interior design employs a sophisticated material palette including wood veneers from ash, Chinese parasol, and walnut trees, complemented by recycled wood, concrete boards, and carefully selected stone elements. The ground floor's layout ingeniously separates raw and cooked meat sections for optimal hygiene control, featuring a central premium meat display that cleverly conceals the existing staircase. The space's innovative design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional approach to spatial organization, material selection, and functional efficiency. The design successfully addresses complex technical requirements while maintaining aesthetic excellence, incorporating features such as removable wood paneling for maintenance access and custom-designed stainless steel counters with integrated refrigeration units. The second floor's design overcomes structural constraints through intelligent use of warm wood tones and strategic spatial planning, creating a welcoming atmosphere despite challenging ceiling heights and mechanical requirements.
