Rong Art Gallery is a distinguished interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese architecture with contemporary design sensibilities. Located in Fuzhou, this meticulously crafted space consists of a main building and an auxiliary building, where spatial aesthetics and behavioral elements are thoughtfully integrated to create an immersive artistic experience. The gallery's design philosophy centers on the concept of discovery through movement, offering visitors varying visual experiences and details as they traverse the space. The restoration work demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship, particularly in the preservation of original wooden architectural elements such as columns, beams, and brackets, which were carefully hand-cleaned to maintain their authentic weathered texture. Notable design features include a sophisticated VIP tea tasting area that combines tea ceremony, art, and flower arrangements in the Oriental tradition, an innovative metal installation screen creating mountain-like formations through carefully positioned metal pieces, and a signature peacock chair that serves as an interactive art installation. The gallery incorporates advanced lighting techniques to create layered shadow effects, while a glazed enamel screen inspired by traditional Chinese painting A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains showcases the revival of traditional crafts through contemporary interpretation. The project, completed in April 2020, was honored with the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its excellence in spatial design, material selection, and cultural preservation. The gallery's design successfully creates multiple stage moments throughout the space, where carefully curated lighting and spatial arrangements transform visitors into protagonists of their own artistic journey.
