Riba Rovira

Riba Rovira (1908–1986) was a Spanish artist renowned for his contribution to the development of abstract painting in Spain in the first half of the twentieth century. He was born in Mataró, a small coastal town near Barcelona, Spain. Rovira had a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of nature, which inspired his paintings. His works are characterized by his use of bright colors and unconventional techniques, including impressionism, cubism and abstract expressionism. His most famous works include the series of paintings he did on the theme of light and shadow, which he often depicted as interacting with each other. Other notable works by Rovira include his landscapes of his native Mataró, his portrayal of everyday life in the city, and his still-lifes. Riba Rovira's influence on modern Spanish art can be seen in the works of his students and his peers.
