Reverse Clock is an innovative timepiece design that revolutionizes the traditional clock concept through its minimalistic and unconventional approach to time display. Created by Belgian designer Mattice Boets, this groundbreaking design inverts the conventional clock mechanism by featuring an inward-facing hand rotating inside an outer ring to indicate hours, while a smaller outward-facing hand rotates to display minutes. The design, measuring 420 millimeters in diameter and 30 millimeters in depth, employs a sophisticated quartz clock mechanism with dual axes, where the minute hand is driven by the inside axel, and the outer shell comprises two visually imperceptible rings forming a bearing. This ingenious mechanism, combined with internal gears, creates the illusion of a static outer ring while enabling rotation of both the ring and hour hand. The design philosophy behind Reverse Clock stems from questioning the unchanging nature of traditional timepiece design, challenging conventional aesthetics while maintaining recognizable functionality. The creation process began with the fundamental cylindrical form common to most clocks, systematically stripped of traditional elements before being reimagined with subtle yet impactful modifications.
