Rest of Life Residential is an award-winning interior design project that masterfully blends traditional Taiwanese architectural elements with contemporary design sensibilities, creating a harmonious living space of 66.1 square meters. Located on the 15th floor, this innovative residential design showcases a thoughtful integration of vintage aesthetics and modern functionality, featuring two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a distinctive tatami room. The project's design philosophy centers on the preservation and reinterpretation of 1960s and 1970s architectural elements, incorporating materials such as smoked oak, begonia glass, and terrazzo to evoke a sense of nostalgia while maintaining contemporary comfort. The space is characterized by its open-plan layout, which maximizes natural light and spatial flow, with particular attention paid to architectural details such as the 7-3 ratio division of white wall and terrazzo surfaces that creates an illusion of increased height and length. Notable design elements include custom cabinetry featuring rattan mesh, serpentine roller shutters, antique brass handles, and carefully considered door junctions that pay homage to traditional Taiwanese craftsmanship. The design successfully addresses architectural challenges through innovative solutions, such as the implementation of curved elements and begonia glass sliding doors to minimize the visual impact of structural beams. Recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, this project demonstrates exceptional achievement in spatial design, material selection, and cultural preservation, completed between November 2021 and January 2022 in Taichung City's Tanzi District.
