Resolution Lounge Chair

Resolution Lounge Chair

Resolution Lounge Chair is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious blend of minimalist aesthetics, functional engineering, and sustainable material usage. Created by designer Shaobo Liu, this distinctive lounge chair demonstrates remarkable structural efficiency through its ability to support weights exceeding 180 pounds despite its predominantly cardboard construction. The chair's architectural form, characterized by its narrow base and carefully calculated proportions (1473mm x 1549mm x 1066mm), creates a visually striking silhouette while maintaining exceptional stability. Its design philosophy stems from childhood memories of comfort and embraces contemporary principles of portability and sustainability. The chair's construction methodology involves an intricate combination of cardboard, foam, and packing peanuts, showcasing innovative material application in furniture design. The development process incorporated both traditional and modern techniques, from initial clay modeling to 3D scanning and CNC fabrication, resulting in a piece that challenges conventional furniture manufacturing paradigms. The design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its contribution to innovative furniture design. The chair's versatility and lightweight nature make it particularly suitable for modern living spaces where adaptability and mobility are paramount, while its structural integrity remains uncompromised, demonstrating that sustainable materials can be engineered to create furniture that is both durable and aesthetically sophisticated.
