Resee Studio

Resee Studio is an exemplary interior design project that masterfully integrates oriental landscape aesthetics within a modern architectural framework, serving as a multifunctional space encompassing workspace, reception area, and display facilities for a sculptor in China's high-tech zone. The studio's design philosophy draws profound inspiration from the late Ming Dynasty treatise Art of Garden-Building, embodying the classical Chinese garden principle of human-made spaces appearing naturally formed. This sophisticated spatial arrangement overcomes significant architectural constraints, including a limited ceiling height of 3100mm, through innovative design solutions that create an illusion of expanded vertical space. The project, completed in 2020 by a team led by designers Gongfeng Ye, Jianfeng Tang, and Chunliang Gong, demonstrates exceptional resourcefulness in material selection and budget optimization, utilizing recycled wooden boards and specialized surface treatments to achieve premium aesthetic quality at reduced costs. The interior landscape incorporates traditional Chinese gardening techniques of borrowed scenery, creating dynamic visual experiences that change with viewing angles and natural light conditions throughout the day. The design's sustainable approach integrates substantial use of gravel and indoor plants, contributing to reduced energy consumption and enhanced environmental performance. This innovative interpretation of oriental Zen aesthetics in a contemporary context earned the project a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its outstanding achievement in spatial design, cultural integration, and sustainable practices.
