Reflected Light

Reflected Light is the light that bounces off a surface and reaches the eye, and in material interaction, it changes based on the surface's texture, color, and finish. For example, a rough surface like concrete spreads the reflected light in many directions, making the surface look soft and even, while a smooth surface like polished metal sends more light in one direction, creating bright spots called highlights. Designers can use this effect to control how a material looks in different lighting, making a space feel warmer or cooler, or making objects stand out or blend in. The way light reflects from a surface can reveal details about the material, such as its smoothness or the presence of patterns and textures, which helps in choosing the right material for a specific mood or function in a project.
