Reduction Residence

Reduction Residence

Reduction Residence is an award-winning architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of classical European elements with contemporary minimalist aesthetics. Located in Taiwan, this 148.7-square-meter residential space demonstrates a sophisticated approach to spatial reduction and visual continuity through its thoughtful transformation of a traditional four-bedroom layout into a gallery-style three-bedroom residence. The design philosophy centers on the concept of reduction, employing grayscale natural mineral coatings and carefully crafted curved surfaces to create a seamless visual narrative throughout the space. The project's distinctive features include its innovative use of materials, incorporating serpentine, Roman green, hand-made textured paints, and various metallic elements to achieve a cohesive design language. The interior space is masterfully divided to optimize natural light flow and circulation, while concealed doors and integrated storage solutions maintain the clean, minimalist aesthetic. The public and private areas are clearly delineated, with the living room designed as an exhibition-like space that creates an atmosphere of infinite extension and contemplative depth. This exceptional residential project, which won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases how reduction in design elements can enhance spatial perception and create a harmonious living environment that balances functionality with aesthetic sophistication.
