Reading Life Public Area

Reading Life Public Area is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies modern simplicity and functional elegance within a prominent hotel setting in Southern Taiwan. This sophisticated public space, spanning 1049 square meters, masterfully integrates warm wooden textures throughout its design elements to create a harmonious environment that celebrates both aesthetics and functionality. The centerpiece of the design features a striking circular area surrounded by arc-like book walls, complemented by an artistic installation of suspended books and thoughtfully designed ceiling illuminations. The space incorporates multiple distinct zones, including specialized island counters for culinary activities, a secure children's area, and various reading and lounge spaces differentiated through sophisticated floor and ceiling treatments. A notable architectural element includes a treehouse-like environment beneath a grand corner staircase, while a central tree motif on wooden flooring creates visual continuity between levels. Designed by Peng-Kai Chen in 2018, this project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully combines multiple design elements including LOFT-style aesthetics, countryside charm, and modern functionality. The design's innovative approach to spatial arrangement, incorporating curved elements and mixed materials, creates an invigorating yet comfortable atmosphere that perfectly balances professional sophistication with welcoming warmth. The project's theme Formula Life artistically exemplifies the harmonious blend of passion and humanity characteristic of Southern Taiwan's cultural identity.
