Qujian Ding Man Xiang Restaurant Restaurant

Qujian Ding Man Xiang Restaurant Restaurant is an innovative architectural and interior design project located on the third floor of a contemporary mall near the historic Xi'an city in China, encompassing 1,300 square meters of thoughtfully curated space. Designed by Cheng Tsao, this sophisticated dining establishment represents a harmonious fusion of European elegance and Art Deco aesthetics, deliberately departing from the traditional Chinese architectural elements prevalent in the surrounding area. The restaurant's design philosophy centers on creating a refined yet simplified European ambiance while avoiding conventional stereotypes, achieved through a strategic spatial organization comprising three distinct zones: a transparent hallway, an expansive lobby, and intimate dining boxes. Despite structural challenges including prominent columns and height restrictions, the design successfully creates an elevated spatial experience through innovative electrical reconstruction and sophisticated material selection, incorporating snow-white and black marble, glass fiber sculptures, custom latex paint finishes, mirror glass installations, hand-painted wallpapers, and artistically stained glass elements. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, demonstrates exceptional expertise in space optimization and aesthetic refinement, particularly noteworthy for its successful transformation of structural constraints into design opportunities. The restaurant's interior architecture effectively balances contemporary design principles with classical European influences, creating an atmosphere that transcends the heavy historical context of its location while maintaining a cohesive and sophisticated dining environment that caters to modern sensibilities and functional requirements.
