Promotion Chair

Promotion Chair

Promotion Chair is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies minimalist aesthetics and sophisticated craftsmanship, distinguished by its unique interpretation of wood end grain textures through CNC engraving technology. Created between 2019 and 2022, this dining chair features a distinctive checkerboard pattern on its back, inspired by the natural tree ring patterns found in end grain wood sections. The design employs premium North American Black Walnut sourced from select farms, finished with OSMO wood wax oil through multiple coating applications. The chair's structural integrity is ensured through a sophisticated hidden mortise and tenon joinery system, while its dimensions of 415mm x 490mm x 765mm provide optimal ergonomic comfort. The design's artistic merit lies in its ability to create compelling light and shadow effects through varied sectional angles, offering users an artistic dining experience that transcends conventional wooden furniture design. The chair's aesthetic appeal is further enhanced by its chess-inspired concept, where its simple form symbolically represents a pawn's potential for transformation - a metaphor reflected in its name Promotion. This innovative approach to furniture design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its excellence in combining functional design with artistic expression. The chair demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its construction, utilizing advanced CNC engraving techniques to achieve precise patterning while maintaining structural stability through customized joinery solutions.
