Project 155 Private Appartment

Project 155 Private Appartment

Project 155 Private Appartment is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully transforms a 200-square-meter ground-floor residence in Bulgaria into a sophisticated living space with panoramic views of Vitosha mountain. Completed in 2016 under the creative direction of architect Penka Stantcheva, this Silver A' Design Award-winning project demonstrates exceptional spatial organization through its thoughtful division into three distinct zones: a flowing open-plan living, dining, and cooking area featuring a converted corridor library, a private owner's suite, and a dedicated guest section. The design philosophy harmoniously balances industrial vintage aesthetics with refined sophistication, employing a carefully curated material palette including cement-based flooring, natural wood, and linen textiles. The project's distinctive character emerges through its innovative use of materials, particularly the waxed concrete effect achieved through specialized self-leveling cement layers, complemented by decorative Bisazza cement tiles in the bathrooms. The interior's visual composition masterfully navigates between minimalism and decorative elements, incorporating Bulgarian ethno-textile traditions alongside contemporary European furniture and lighting designs. The space achieves its primary objective of maintaining visual spaciousness while avoiding the stark appearance often associated with raw-finish interiors, creating an environment that serves as a peaceful urban retreat. The project's success lies in its meticulous attention to detail, evidenced by the controlled application of fourteen different materials and the custom-designed kitchen and cabinetry that contribute to a cohesive aesthetic experience.
