Profoundness Of Structures Residential

Profoundness of Structures Residential is an innovative architectural and interior design project that seamlessly integrates residential living spaces with an art exhibition venue, completed in 2017 in Tainan, Taiwan. This five-story structure, designed by architect Chong-Yi Chen in collaboration with interior designer Hui-Chung Chien, exemplifies a sophisticated approach to subtropical climate adaptation through its distinctive use of architectural grilles, which facilitate natural lighting, ventilation, and temperature regulation. The building's exterior features a harmonious combination of wood grilles and slate bricks, creating a natural ambience while effectively addressing the thermal challenges common to concrete structures in subtropical environments. The interior spaces are thoughtfully arranged across multiple levels, with the second floor featuring an exhibition corridor offering panoramic views, while the third floor houses the primary living spaces characterized by a warm interplay of wooden textures and fair-faced concrete. Notable design elements include grass pavers at the entrance to enhance soil water retention, clear glass doors for optimal natural illumination, and a minimalist material palette comprising fair-faced concrete and steel, complemented by strategic track lighting to showcase art pieces. The project, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, distinguishes itself through its integration of a semi-outdoor corridor landscape featuring a fish pond, terrazzo, and cobblestone details, creating a harmonious balance between artistic display spaces and comfortable living areas while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
