Primitive Residence
Primitive Residence is an innovative interior architectural project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural elements with modern living spaces, completed in Taipei, Taiwan in 2015. This Silver A' Design Award-winning residential design masterfully divides a 456-square-meter elevated space into distinct private and working areas across two floors, employing a sophisticated dual-staircase system that facilitates independent circulation patterns for different purposes. The design philosophy centers on breaking traditional residential space concepts by incorporating green materials and natural elements as fundamental components, creating a revolutionary approach to contemporary living. The project's distinctive features include the extensive use of raw materials such as concrete, wood, cement, glass bricks, and metal pieces, carefully selected to maintain an organic aesthetic while establishing a strong personality within the space. The architectural composition is particularly noteworthy for its innovative use of glass penetration techniques that dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, while large windows invite abundant natural light that interacts dynamically with the natural materials, infusing the space with vitality. The ground floor, dedicated to private living, employs earth tones and natural materials to create a healing atmosphere, while the first floor serves as a working space, demonstrating exceptional spatial planning through its connecting corridor system. This project, recognized by the A' Design Award for its excellence in Interior Space and Exhibition Design, represents a significant advancement in residential architecture, particularly in its approach to creating multi-layered spaces that respond to both practical needs and aesthetic sensibilities while maintaining a strong connection to natural elements.
