Press Art Book is an innovative artistic publication that explores the intersection of human perception, artificial intelligence, and visual association in the digital age. Created by art director and designer Tsuyoshi Omori in collaboration with jewelry artist Mika Yamakoshi, this sophisticated art book examines how modern mental association processes are increasingly influenced by online search algorithms rather than personal experiences and sensibilities. The 210mm x 210mm square format publication features eight carefully curated collages created using stretchy paper and acrylic paints, deliberately minimizing personal artistic intervention. A distinctive feature of the design is its innovative use of alternating plain and tracing papers, allowing viewers to experience the collages both independently and in conjunction with algorithmically-generated keywords derived from image search engines. The square format enables viewers to observe the collages and associated text from eight different angles, creating a multi-dimensional viewing experience. The book's typography, particularly in the title PRESS, is thoughtfully integrated into the design, evoking the mechanical essence of roller printing machines used in the collage-making process. This conceptually rich work, which garnered a Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, presents a compelling examination of contemporary visual interpretation and the growing influence of artificial intelligence in our perception of art. The 40-page publication serves as both an artistic statement and a philosophical inquiry into the evolution of human visual association in the digital era.
