Power of Play Event is a comprehensive design-driven educational initiative that exemplifies the intersection of interdisciplinary collaboration and creative exploration in academic settings. Conceived and executed by Industrial Design student organizations, this innovative event framework brings together students from diverse academic backgrounds to engage in collaborative product design challenges centered around pre-determined themes. The event's visual identity, created by designer Mina Lynn Sohn, masterfully incorporates playful geometric forms inspired by childhood toys, featuring bold typography that harmoniously integrates with basic graphic elements. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project encompasses a complete visual communication system, including posters, pamphlets, postcards, name tags, branded merchandise, and digital assets, all unified under a cohesive design language that makes complex design concepts accessible to participants from various disciplines. The event's structure facilitates hands-on experience in ideation, research, design, and prototyping, while professional guest lecturers provide valuable industry insights. Implemented in 2018, the project demonstrates exceptional attention to visual communication design principles, successfully addressing the challenge of creating an approachable and engaging environment for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The comprehensive design system spans multiple formats, from large-format posters (609mm x 914.4mm) to intimate promotional materials, effectively communicating the event's creative spirit across various touchpoints.
